Is PledgeAthon really free for nonprofits?

Yes. There are zero platform fees, zero monthly charges, and zero contracts. The only cost is standard Stripe payment processing (2.9% + $0.30 per card transaction), which is the same rate every major platform uses. Cash and check donations have no fees at all.

How is this different from platforms that charge 5-8%?

Most fundraising platforms take a percentage of every donation on top of credit card processing fees. On a $10,000 fundraiser, a 5% platform fee costs you $500. With PledgeAthon, that $500 stays with your nonprofit. We sustain ourselves through optional donor tips instead.

Can we accept both flat donations and per-activity pledges?

Yes. Donors can give a one-time flat amount or pledge per lap, per mile, per book — whatever unit fits your event. Both types are tracked in your dashboard.

How do payouts work for nonprofits?

You connect your organization's bank account through Stripe during setup (takes about 2 minutes). After that, donations are deposited within 1 business day. You don't have to wait for the campaign to end.

Do we need to be a 501(c)(3)?

No. PledgeAthon works for any nonprofit, community organization, or cause. You do need a bank account connected through Stripe to receive payouts. Tax receipts and donation acknowledgment are your organization's responsibility.
